A recent study estimated that pharmacy benefit plan costs typically represent about 18% of employer-sponsored health benefit plan costs, compared with roughly 3% in the 1980’s.* Other experts estimate that pharmacy benefit plans are closer to 30% of total health benefit plan costs.
